Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca

Welcome to Morocco! Upon your arrival at the airport, your designated driver will warmly greet you and assist with your luggage before transferring you to your hotel. Take some time to settle in and relax after your journey.

In the evening, enjoy a special welcome dinner where you’ll have the opportunity to savor authentic Moroccan flavors and meet fellow travelers. This leisurely introduction to Moroccan hospitality sets the tone for the incredible experiences awaiting you.

As arrival times may vary, no activities are scheduled for the day, allowing everyone to rest and prepare for the exciting adventures ahead in this beautiful country.

-      Day 2: Casablanca to Chefchaouen

As the sun rises over Casablanca, your day begins with a visit to the Hassan II Mosque, a breathtaking architectural marvel and one of the largest mosques in the world. Situated on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, its intricate craftsmanship and serene atmosphere offer a perfect start to your journey.

From Casablanca, you will embark on a drive to Rabat, the political and cultural heart of Morocco. Your exploration begins with the iconic Hassan Tower (Tour Hassan), an unfinished 12th-century minaret that showcases Morocco’s architectural legacy. Admire its towering presence and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding cityscape, where history and modernity converge.

Next, you’ll visit the tranquil Mohammed V Mausoleum, an exquisite blend of traditional Moroccan design and modern elements. This revered site serves as the final resting place of King Mohammed V and his sons, a poignant reminder of Morocco’s recent history.

Your journey continues to Chellah, an ancient fortress that weaves together Roman ruins and medieval architecture. Stroll through its peaceful gardens and uncover layers of history with your guide, from its origins as a Roman settlement to its transformation into a necropolis.

After immersing yourself in Rabat’s historical and cultural treasures, you will travel north to the enchanting blue city of Chefchaouen, nestled in the Rif Mountains. Upon arrival, you’ll settle into your accommodation, ready to explore the charm of this picturesque town in the days ahead.

Day 3: Exploring Chefchaouen - Cooking class with a local family

 

Wake up to the serene beauty of Chefchaouen, a town famous for its blue-painted streets and tranquil atmosphere. Begin your day with a guided exploration of the medina, where narrow alleyways wind between vibrant blue walls adorned with colorful flower pots and traditional Moroccan décor. Your guide will share stories about the town's unique history and cultural influences while you wander through its bustling markets and artisan shops, where you can find handwoven textiles, pottery, and other local crafts.

Late in the morning, immerse yourself in the culinary traditions of Morocco with a cooking class hosted by a local family. Learn to prepare authentic dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, as you gain insight into the flavors and techniques that define Moroccan cuisine. Afterward, sit down to enjoy the fruits of your labor with a delicious homemade lunch in the warm hospitality of your hosts.

In the late afternoon, enjoy some free time to explore Chefchaouen at your own pace. You might choose to revisit your favorite spots in the medina, hike up to the Spanish Mosque for panoramic views of the town at sunset, or simply relax at a café and savor the peaceful ambiance of this mountain gem.

 

 Day 4: Chefchaouen to Fes via Volubilis & Meknes - Wine tasting

 

Start your day with a hearty breakfast before departing Chefchaouen and embarking on a journey that blends history, culture, and indulgence.

Your first stop is the ancient Roman city of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander through the remarkably preserved ruins, including stunning mosaics, grand arches, and remnants of Roman villas. As your guide brings the site’s history to life, imagine the bustling life that once thrived in this center of trade and governance.

Next, indulge in a wine-tasting experience at a nearby vineyard in the fertile region surrounding Meknes, known as Morocco’s wine country. Tour the vineyards, learn about the winemaking process, and sample a selection of fine Moroccan wines. This sensory experience offers a delightful way to unwind while appreciating the region's unique terroir.

Enjoy a break for lunch at a local restaurant, savoring traditional Moroccan dishes.

In the afternoon, continue to Meknes, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities. Known for its blend of grandeur and charm, Meknes offers a glimpse into Morocco’s rich heritage. Visit the impressive Bab Mansour, one of the finest examples of Moroccan architecture, and explore the lively El Hedim Square, where you can soak in the vibrant local atmosphere.

As the day winds down, you’ll journey onward to Fes, arriving in the evening. Settle into your accommodation and enjoy a leisurely evening in preparation for exploring the cultural and spiritual heart of Morocco the next day.

 

 

Day 5: Explore Fez with a local guide - Pottery & Enbroidery Workshop

 

Begin your day with a visit to the Merenid Tombs, perched on a hill overlooking the city. These ancient ruins offer a panoramic view of Fes, with its sprawling medina, historic walls, and vibrant skyline stretching into the distance. The serene atmosphere is a perfect way to start your exploration of this timeless city.

Next, immerse yourself in the artistry of Fes with a hands-on pottery workshop. Learn about the city’s renowned ceramics tradition, from shaping clay on the potter’s wheel to crafting intricate patterns with vibrant glazes. Take this opportunity to create your own masterpiece, gaining a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship that defines Fes.

From there, visit the Royal Palace (Dar el-Makhzen), famed for its stunning golden gates and intricate mosaic work. While the palace itself is not open to the public, the exterior and its magnificent craftsmanship offer a glimpse into Moroccan royal architecture.

As you enter the heart of the city, head to the old medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest car-free urban areas in the world. Within its maze-like streets, enjoy an embroidery workshop, where skilled artisans will guide you through the intricate art of Moroccan needlework. This hands-on experience not only connects you with the city’s textile heritage but also allows you to create a unique keepsake.

Afterward, visit the historic Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque and University, a beacon of learning and spirituality since its founding in 859 AD. Marvel at its stunning architecture, including ornate carvings, tilework, and a tranquil courtyard. As one of the oldest universities in the world, this site is a testament to the rich intellectual and cultural legacy of Fes.

Conclude your day with some free time to explore the medina’s bustling souks or relax at a café with a glass of traditional mint tea. Return to your accommodation in the evening, reflecting on a day filled with artistry, history, and cultural discovery.

 

Day 6: Fez to the desert of Merzouga via Ifrane and Azrou

 

After breakfast, you leave Fes. On the way, the first stop will be Ifrane. It is a small city located in the Middle Atlas region of Morocco. The city is renowned for its cleanliness, fresh air, and scenic mountain views. Because of its altitude and location, Ifrane has a cooler climate than most other Moroccan cities. This makes it an ideal destination for tourists seeking to escape the heat of summer.

The city is home to a number of attractions, including the Royal Palace, the Ifrane National Park, and the Moroccan winter resort of Oukaimeden. It is also has a vibrant nightlife, with many bars and clubs located in its center. After exploring Ifrane, you will continue your journey towards Midelt, a nice city in the Atlas Mountains.

After a shirt stop in Ifrane, you head to the Cedar Forests of Azrou where you watch and take pictures with wild monkeys.

Once in Midelt, you will have lunch and you go south via Talghomt pass praising the beautiful sights and landscapes that nature offers to you.

Once you reach the area of Ziz valley, you will pause for a thrilling panoramic view of oases filled with high palm trees. Within around one hour, you will reach the Sahara desert where you find camels waiting for you.

As you begin to approach Desert, the landscape will shift gradually. Finally, by the end of the afternoon, you will have arrived. Another journey will begin as the camels take you into heart of the desert. You drive through the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi which can reach up to 150 meters in height. The dunes are constantly shifting and moving, creating an ever-changing landscape.

Once you reach your camps, you will enjoy a traditional Berber Dinner.

Later, you can have a great experience of stargazing. There is something special about stargazing there; it is the wide open spaces, the lack of light pollution, or the feeling of being at one with the universe. Whatever the reason, a desert night sky is an unforgettable experience. The stars seem brighter and closer, and the constellations stand out in sharp relief.

Finally, you can sing and dance with Berbers around the fire. It is a traditional habit that reflects the joy and the happiness of Berber people.

 

Day 7: Explore the desert- Visit Nomad Families, explore how to make Berber Pizza

 

Start your day in the Sahara Desert with an unforgettable exploration of its rich culture and traditions. Your morning begins with a visit to nomad families living in the desert. Spend time learning about their daily lives, customs, and traditions. They will warmly welcome you with a cup of traditional mint tea, and you’ll have the chance to participate in preparing Berber Pizza, a delicious stuffed flatbread baked in the sand or in a clay oven.

Next, travel to the nearby Khamlia Village, a small settlement known for its rich musical heritage. Meet the locals and experience their vibrant Gnawa music, a unique style that combines African rhythms with Moroccan traditions. Enjoy their lively performances while learning about the history and culture that underpin this art form.

In the afternoon, embark on a 4×4 tour of the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes, a thrilling adventure across the golden sand seas of the Sahara. Feel the excitement as you navigate through towering dunes and stop at picturesque locations for photo opportunities and to marvel at the vastness of the desert. (Optional)

Later, visit the Rissani local market, an authentic and bustling hub that remains a favorite among locals rather than tourists. Wander through its stalls, brimming with spices, dates, vegetables, and traditional crafts. This is also a chance to see the famous donkey parking lot—a testament to the town’s traditional way of life.

As the day winds down, return to your desert accommodation, where you can relax and reflect on the enriching experiences and the captivating spirit of the Sahara.

 

Day 8: Merzouga to Boumalane Dades – Rug waving

 

Start your journey westward from Merzouga toward Boumalne Dades, a day filled with breathtaking landscapes and cultural discoveries.

Your first stop is the dramatic Todra Gorges, a series of towering limestone canyons carved by the Todra River. Stroll through the narrow gorge, surrounded by sheer cliffs that reach heights of up to 300 meters, and marvel at the natural beauty of this iconic site.

Continue to the town of Tinghir, renowned for its vibrant Berber culture and traditional rug-weaving artistry. Visit a local workshop to learn about the intricate process of rug weaving, from dyeing the wool with natural pigments to the painstaking hand-knotting techniques. Engage with the artisans, who will share stories and insights into this centuries-old craft.

Journey onward through the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs, a mesmerizing route dotted with ancient fortresses and lush green oases framed by the stark desert landscape. Pause along the way to admire the stunning scenery and capture photos of the iconic kasbahs, which have stood as sentinels of Berber heritage for generations.

Arrive in Boumalne Dades by the late afternoon. Settle into your accommodation, surrounded by the striking beauty of the Dades Valley, and enjoy a leisurely evening to relax and soak in the serene ambiance of this picturesque region.

 

Day 9: Boumaln to Marrakech via Ait Ben Haddou

After breakfast, depart from Boumalne Dades and begin your scenic journey toward Marrakech, with several remarkable stops along the way.

Your first stop is the Valley of Skoura, renowned for its lush palm groves and historic kasbahs. Take some time to explore the valley's beauty and capture the stunning contrast between the green oasis and the surrounding desert.

Next, head to Ouarzazate, often referred to as the "Gateway to the Sahara." Here, you'll visit the impressive Kasbah Taourirt from the outside, one of the most iconic kasbahs in Morocco. Its mud-brick walls and ornate design make it a striking landmark.

Continue your journey by visiting Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate, one of the largest film studios in the world. Explore the sets and learn about the many famous films shot here, including Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones.

Afterward, drive to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, an ancient fortified village famous for its earthen buildings and ksar, which has been featured in numerous films. Take a guided tour of the village, walking through its narrow alleyways and learning about its fascinating history.

As you continue your journey, make a stop at the Tizi n'Tichka Pass to admire the stunning Atlas Mountains. Here, you’ll have the chance to take in the majesty of the mountains and capture panoramic views of the rugged terrain and traditional Berber villages scattered across the slopes.

Arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon, where you will settle into your accommodation and enjoy a well-deserved rest after a day filled with exploration and breathtaking sights.

 

Day 10: Explore Marrakech - Wood Carving Workshop and Blacksmithing Workshop

 

Begin your day with a visit to the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, the largest mosque in Marrakech, known for its stunning minaret and intricate architecture. While non-Muslims are not permitted to enter, the beauty of the surrounding gardens and the historical significance of the mosque make it a must-see.

Next, head to the Medersa Ben Youssef, a beautifully preserved Islamic college showcasing exquisite Moroccan craftsmanship. Admire the intricately carved cedar wood, zellij tilework, and plaster detailing as you explore this historical gem.

The morning continues with an immersive Wood Carving Workshop and Blacksmithing Workshop. Under the guidance of skilled artisans, you’ll have the unique opportunity to participate hands-on, learning traditional techniques to create your own small piece of art. From shaping intricate wood carvings to crafting decorative lamps or other metal art, this experience offers a deep connection to Marrakech’s vibrant artistic heritage.

After the workshops, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, soaking in the flavors of traditional Moroccan cuisine.

In the afternoon, explore the bustling medina, where winding alleys are filled with vibrant souks offering everything from spices to textiles. Stroll through the lively markets, where the colors, scents, and sounds create an unforgettable sensory experience.

Conclude your day at the famous Jamaa el-Fna Square, the heart of Marrakech’s cultural life. Watch as the square comes alive with street performers, storytellers, musicians, and food vendors. Take in the energetic atmosphere, or enjoy a refreshing drink at one of the rooftop cafés overlooking the square.

 

Day 11: Free morning in Marrakech - Transfer to Casablanca

 

Today, you will enjoy a free morning in Marrakech. Some activities to do include:

Day 12: Home sweet home

Our 12-day tour from Casablanca has come to a close here. Even while it makes us happy when a tour goes as planned, this is one of the aspects of our profession that we dislike the most. After traveling together for 12 days, we develop relationships, share our experiences, and open up about ourselves. True, saying bye has never been an easy task.

Today, the driver will transfer you to the airport either in Casablanca or Marrakech and you leave Morocco with a lot of memories and stories to tell. It was a rich experience that took you to the very heart of Morocco.
